Summary of the 6th edition of Fast Textile

On November 22, the 6th edition of the Fast Textile fair ended. During the 3 days, Ptak Warsaw Expo was a unique place where visitors could find literally everything you need for the production of clothing.

The Fast Textile is a recognized event that attracts a huge number of both industry specialists and hobbyists every year. It was no different during the 6th edition of the fair, during which a record number of direct producers was presented. On November 20-22, 2019, the Ptak Warsaw Expo Trade Fair and Congress Center was filled with over 30,000 visitors from several dozen countries. Guests attending the event had the opportunity to get to know the trends for the spring/summer 2020 season and the latest technologies used in the textile industry, presented by nearly 500 exhibitors.

For three days, visitors could see the novelties presented by the exhibitors in the field of technology, sewing machines, materials and sewing accessories. Everything was divided into 12 thematic zones: Home Textiles, Fast Fashion, Upholstery Fabrics, Advertising Textiles, Fabrics and Knitted Fabrics, Machines, Yarn, Services, Accessories, Garment Accessories, Media, National Pavilions. During the 6th edition of the fair, an integral part was also the hobby area, where numerous lectures, workshops and competitions were held. The multitude of events made sure that everyone could find something for themselves, and taking advantage of their full offer was almost impossible.

Numerous workshops, competitions and meetings

During Fast Textile 2019, a wide range of materials, accessories, modern machines was presented, as well as exhibitions, e.g. an exhibition of patchworks inspired by the painting Earth Lines by Rebecca Vincent. In addition to admiring the many exhibitions, visitors could take part in interesting construction, modeling and sewing workshops – for example lampshades and bags, as well as get to know the technology and operation of modern machines and devices.

One of the main attractions of the event was the interactive space #WartośćSzycia prepared in cooperation with Sewing.Bloggers.Poland and Janek Leśniak Atelier, as part of which numerous workshops, meetings and discussion panels took place, among others: The Perfect Handbag Workshop by Janek Leśniak, The Second Life of Jeans – Sewing Kidneys with Joanka-Z, Drawing with a Needle – Free Hand Quilting with Anna Sławińska or Sewing a Linen Bag Workshop with Ela Wasiluk. On the other hand, in the UltraMaszyna x Karolina Fabrics workshop zone, participants could take advantage of sewing a lampshade, work bag, pillowcases with an inset, beautician or get to know the basics of computer embroidery. The workshop stands were also run by Decorative Haberdashery and Papavero. On all days of the fair, you could take part in upholstery and furniture renovation workshops or sew a bed for a shelter.

There were also competitions during Fast Textile. In the “MasterSzew” competition, the finalists’ task was to create an outfit based on a pattern and materials received from the organizer within six hours. There was a division into two groups: a group of hobbyists and professionals. The realized competition outfits were sent to an auction for charity purposes.

The world championship in ironing, organized by the Strima company, was no less attraction. The competition was open to everyone who can and likes to iron. 52 participants took part in the tournament. The championship consisted of two rounds. In the first, participants had to iron creased pants and a shirt, for which they had 9 minutes. In the final round, participants had to iron a linen shirt, jacket and trousers within 10 minutes. The jury assessed the time, technique and quality of ironing. The winner received 10 thousand PLN and her company a table with a steam generator worth over PLN 20,000. The next participants on the podium also received cash prizes.

A chance for business development

The high attendance of both visitors and exhibitors was conducive to numerous, face-to-face talks, incl. between producers of fabrics and sewing accessories with designers, stylists and hobbyists.

The great advantage of the event was the possibility to participate in the Hosted Buyers program. As a result, exhibitors could meet a customer focused on his product or service. Hosted Buyers deals with finding potential partners and investors interested in cooperation with exhibitors. During the fair, a series of pre-arranged meetings took place. Such a formula increased the efficiency of companies’ appearance at the fair and shortened the time of reaching contractors.
